Cooking Methods

As Easy as 1, 2, 3!
If you think cooking squash is difficult, think again! Baking, steaming and microwaving are all sure and easy ways to prepare squash; only boiling affects its flavour.

To retain maximum flavour, do not overcook squash. To test doneness, insert the blade of a knife into the flesh as you would with potatoes.

Cooking Methods

Bake
Preheat oven to 350°F/180°.
Cut squash in two. Remove seeds and filaments. Place both halves, cut face down, on a baking sheet with a little water. Cover with foil and bake 30-45 minutes depending on size.

Steam
Peel and cube, removing seeds and stringy matter. Steam 15-20 minutes depending on size of cubes. Purée if desired.

Microwave
Cut squash in two. Remove seeds and filaments. Cover with plastic wrap and cook at maximum for 10-15 minutes depending on size.
